Patssi
Valdez
Patricia Correia is pleased to present new paintings by internationally renown intermedia artist, Patssi Valdez.
In the exhibition Los Cuadros de Patssi Valdez, her seventh solo show with the gallery, Valdez presents the viewer with
magical, limitless domestic spaces whose dramatic compositional staging suggests scenes of intimate dramas where private
histories of the organic and inorganic worlds are enacted. Valdez's signature Neo-Expressionist style balances luscious,
whimsical curves and dangerously sharp lines realized through a seductive, luminescent palette. The objects in Valdez's
paintings vibrate with spectacular light and pulsate with an ecstatic, otherworldly energy.
In 2005, Patssi Valdez received The Latina of Excellence Award in Cultural Arts by the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute, Washington, D.C.
and was named Honorary Artist (poster & catalogue) of the 26th Annual Venice Art Walk & Auction, Venice, CA. Valdez was named by the Latin Recording
Academy as the official artist of the 5th Annual Latin GRAMMY Awards in 2004. In 2003, she received the honorable Business Committee for the Arts
Award from the Rockefeller Foundation.
